The roof is the most important element of the house. It gives us protection from the harsh weather conditions. It has to endure the extreme heat of the sun in the summertime, the biting cold that winter brings and even the breezy winds that fall offers. You need to have a sturdy roof to really outlast these weather conditions. Not only that, growing molds and mildew add up damage on your house’s safety blanket.
Since the roof is the most important structure of a home, it needs constant care through proper maintenance. Proper maintenance entails you to check for any damage to your roof brought about by intense weather conditions, growing molds and mildew and other related factors. If you do not want to waste time and effort doing roof care and maintenance, you can always call your nearest Katy Roofer to do the job effortlessly for you. Minor roof setbacks like loose ridge tiles can be easily repaired even if you are not a pro. You will only be needing safety spectacles, roof ladder, extension ladder, hammer, cold chisel, mixing board, builder’s trowel, dry mortar mix, bucket, PVA adhesive tape, an old paintbrush and water. Now let’s get started.
1. First, place your roof ladder and extension ladder on a flat platform. Remember to place it securely in a proper position to avoid any accidents.
2. Next, put on your safety spectacles to avoid debris or pieces of mortar to get into your eyes. Now, carefully remove loose mortars with the use of a cold chisel and hammer.
3. Then combine a mix of bagged mortar on a mixing board. This mixture is 1 part of building adhesive and about 10 parts of clean water. Make sure that the consistency is neither too wet nor too dry.
4. Brush away any excess dust or dirt on your tile with the use of an old paintbrush. Once the tile is dirt-free, coat it with PVA building adhesive carefully and neatly on each side of the tile ridge. Then, dampen the ridge tile with water and press it firmly in order for the tile to stick properly. To ensure that the tile is pressed properly, tap it with the use of a trowel handle.
5. Now, fill in the tile gaps with the use of the same trowel. You need to fill all gaps carefully to avoid the tiles from becoming loose.
