Long Beach Roofing Tips and Advice

As with any large investment, buying a new roof is a process that requires some forethought and research. Failing to perform your due diligence at the outset can result in wasted time and money. Here is some information to help you get started in finding a qualified company to install your roof.

Did you know that 96% of new contractors go out of business within the first two years? This is why we strongly suggest you work with a company that has been in business for quite some time. You should work with a business who can honor its warranty – especially in the roofing industry because many warranties can last for years or decades.

You should also consider whether or not the roofer you hire is licensed, bonded and insured. The state of California requires licensing and bonding, but there are many contractors who are not in compliance. Make sure to check them out! Unlicensed contractors typically have lower quality work and you bear the risk of losses if the project is not completed or someone is hurt on the job. The roofer you hire should have general liability insurance, workers’ compensation and auto insurance on business vehicles.

A good roofer should provide a warranty with an explicit time period on any roof installation. Be sure that warranty is stated in writing before you sign the contract. Always ask for references. A contractor who has been in business for any reasonable length of time should be able to provide you with several.

Do not be afraid to get multiple bids on for your new roof. You should aim to get a fair price, but if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. Cheaper usually means inferior materials and terrible workmanship. Don’t work with companies who say they are the cheapest or will be anyone’s quote. These are typically the companies who go out of business the quickest. Be sure the company you are considering has a defined timeline for completion. You don’t want to be stuck for months with a roof that is not finished.

Cool roof technology is something you should ask your roofer about. There are some excellent materials that will help you shave your electrical bill while reducing the negative impact on the environment.

By following these guidelines, you should be able to find a roofer who will do a great job. If you are in the Long Beach area, be sure to check out Bonded Roofing. We have been in business since 1968 and have completed thousands of jobs.
